Working Together to Provide Kids Innovative Mental Health Care

In February 2023, Driscoll Children’s Hospital announced a partnership with the Corpus Christi Independent School District (CCISD), funded by the Coastal Bend Community Foundation (CBCF), to create a pilot program that places mental health professionals in six local schools.

The state of Texas is currently ranked lowest in the nation in terms of access to mental health care. Coastal Bend Community Foundation initiated an $800,000 grant to launch the three-year mental health pilot program designed to work with teachers, parents, and children to address this multi-faceted challenge.

The partnership’s pilot program will place an additional six licensed mental health professionals, including clinical, social workers and licensed professional counselors (all Driscoll staff members) directly into the schools to address the mental health needs of students. The goal is to make a significant impact for the children in CCISD by creating a program where children need it. Read more here.
